On January 1, 2023, Colorado will begin collecting premiums from employers for the state’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program.

What employers need to know now about the Colorado FAMLI program:

  • Employers with workers in Colorado must register for FAMLI (unless exempt)
  • Employers are responsible for collecting and remitting FAMLI contributions to the State
  • The following employers may apply for an exemption in the Fall: Nonparticipating local government, self-employed, or employer with private plan
