ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Green Building Materials (Telluride Office) during our remodel in 2008, we purchased recycled plastic (3Form) panels, we purchased bamboo office organization items. Our Montrose office was built in 2007 and is equipped with energy star appliances, lighting, and finishes.

Paperless Work Environment (Company-wide) in 2008 we made progress towards becoming a paperless office. We upgraded our computers with dual monitors*, we launched electronic filing for both internal documents and all client documents, we launched a client portal for our payroll clients to store annual reports, returns, and documents.

Office Supplies (Company-wide) we strive to purchase more environmentally friendly, recycled, or post-consumer content office supplies when available and affordable.

Products & Services ASAP operates in a web-based environment, and we pass this technology on to our clients. We strive to offer services and products that help our clients conserve and operate in a more efficient manner.

Conservation (Company-wide) we strive to continuously educate our staff to help conserve energy use. We put all electronics in sleep mode at night or turn them off completely. We have installed programmable thermostat control devices in all our offices and attempt to minimize our use completely. We subscribe to SMPA’s Green Cents Program where our utility costs are rounded to the nearest dollar with proceeds benefiting local energy programs.

Waste Reduction (Company-wide) our employees strive to reuse and recycle whenever possible. We offer recycling in all four offices. Furthermore we attempt to reduce the amount of waste produced by using reusable containers for meals, storage, and general organization. In addition we use reusable paper whenever possible when printing documents. Our sensitive documents are shred on a monthly basis and recycled.

*Dual Monitors by using dual monitors, you can avoid printing and increase productivity. How much? According to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, up to 50 percent though other sources estimate much lower, around 20 percent. We use dual or multiple screens for a wide variety of application – many of which eliminate the need to print – including: comparative analysis between financial documents and actual data; report creation, reserving one screen for resource materials while typing in information; researching complex issues while working on data.
